2010 Frank Camorra Tempranillo (Margaret River, WA)

Spanish-born Frank Camorra came to Australia with his family when he was five years old, but still has strong ties to his homeland. This is reflected in his restaurant, Melbourne’s MoVida, where they ‘embrace the spirit, the fun, the essence of the great bars of Spain.

This brilliant deep garnet coloured Tempranillo has aromas of ripe black fruits, Indian spices and liquorice.  Toasty oak is apparent.  Its juicy medium bodied palate, providing both savoury olive character and sharp cracked black pepper.  Acid is soft and restrained, being typical to most styles of this variety.  The tannins are grippy and drying which lingered longer than the fruit. These were tamed with food.  In this case charred roasted vegetables and chorizo sausage.
