A Chef’s Selection – Alastair McLeod Pinot Noir

Wine Selectors are probably best known as a great way to buy online, from actual real live wineries.  Not made-up home brands.  Wine Selectors have a Chef Series range of wines, made in conjunction with some well known Australians Chefs and equally well know premium wineries.

2010 Alastair McLeod Pinot Noir (Mornington Peninsula, VIC)

Brisbane’s Alastair McLeod has an unpretentious attitude to food that’s perfectly matched by this approachable Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir.

Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir is always interesting. Always with variations of a central theme, and that theme is definitely Pinot.   The aromas are full of pinot earthiness and red fruit characters, completed with warm cedar spiciness.  The palate has moderate intensity, with chalky tannins which support ripe red cherry fruit.  Sweet spice and pepper are evident.  Good length of flavour, finishes with noticeable alcohol warmth.  Definitely approachable and good drinking now, but will cellar for the next few years.
